T H E . D O J O . K U N .

These are the outlines and expectations that our instructors enforce before, during, and after each class. They are the words that I try to live by every day and so far, following them has never lead me the wrong way:

S e e k . P e r f e c t i o n . o f . C h a r a c t e r – I try to be a good person. This means telling the truth even when I want to lie, doing the right thing when no one is watching, and being myself regardless of what others think.

B e . F a i t h f u l — This means being loyal to myself and the people I care about. If a time arises where I am tempted to betray my friends or family or go against something I believe in, I remind myself of the dojo kun and ask myself if it’s the right thing.

E n d e a v o r — I do what I can to achieve my goals by speaking up and making it happen. No one else is going to get things done for me so I have to do it myself.

R e s p e c t . O t h e r s — It doesn’t matter if the person is young, old, fat, skinny, mean, kind, etc. Everyone deserves respect and is entitled to being treated the right way. Period.

R e f r a i n . f r o m . V i o l e n t . B e h a v i o r— Don’t fight anyone unless I have no other choice.
