Paula Borgo

Paula Borgo

Artesa Vineyards & Winery (Director of Winemaking)

Paula Borgo, a native of Mendoza, Argentina, grew up in a family deeply rooted in the wine industry. As a result, she was instilled with appreciation for terroir and the meticulous processes needed for crafting wines of exceptional quality. Not surprisingly, she opted to study enology at the Centro de Estudios Enologicos, INTA Mendoza.

She began her career in the wine industry by working the 2001 harvests at Bodega Doña Paula in Argentina and Kendall Jackson in California. In mid-2002, Paula joined Bodega Séptima, a Mendoza winery owned by Spain’s Raventós Codorníu and noted for producing premium wines. She was promoted to assistant winemaker in 2008 and ultimately became the head winemaker at Bodega Séptima. Throughout her time there, Paula gained further expertise by traveling to some of the world’s great winegrape-growing regions and holding assistant winemaker positions for harvests at two Spanish wineries, Bodega Felix Solis in Valdepeñas, and Raimat, in Catalonia.

Paula became Director of Winemaking at Artesa Winery & Vineyards in the Napa Valley in mid-2023, replacing Ana Diogo-Draper, who had held this position since 2015. Ana was the first woman named as Artesa’s Director of Winemaking, making Paula only the second. She’ll be crafting premium Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, among other varietals and blends for which Artesa is known.
