Sarah Green

Neely Wine (Winemaker)

Sarah Green was born and raised in Southern California, but headed to the East Coast for college education, earning a B.A. in English from Smith College in 2011. Prior to graduating, her interest in wine was sparked by finding that an alumna from Smith was a winemaker. This led to a trip to the California wine country, an experience that resulted in a sense of curiosity and adventure about the wine industry.

Two years after graduating, Sarah worked her first harvest, holding an internship at Donelan Family wines in Santa Rosa, California. She then worked consecutive harvests in New Zealand, the Sonoma Coast, and the Margaret River region of Australia. Returning to the U.S. in 2013, she rejoined Donelan as assistant winemaker, a position she held for four years.

In mid-2017, she accepted the position of associate winemaker for the FEL brand of Lede Family Wines in Sonoma. As for a reason for making this move, Sarah said, “I was drawn to FEL for the chance to work with the winery’s excellent fruit sources, especially the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Savoy Vineyard. I’ve had the opportunity to work with these varieties around the world and I continue to be inspired by FEL’s unique style, every wine and vineyard that we work with has its own language.” She was promoted to winemaker in 2021. She transferred to another brand of Lede when she was named Director of Client Winemaking at The Donum Estate in mid-2023. A year later, after leaving Donum, she was named winemaker for Neely Wine.

A resident of Petaluma, Sarah completed an MBA in Wine Business at Sonoma State University in 2022. She enjoys hiking if and when she has any free time.
