Robert Renzoni Vineyards (Winemaker)

Olivia Hallet Bue grew in Encinitas in Southern California in a family that loved wine. In her own words, “Uncorking bottles was always in the equation at every family gathering; wine was our conduit to laughter and love.” When she was a teenager, a close family friend told her about the program in Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis, and Olivia enrolled in it, completing her degree in 2011.

Following graduation, she worked at The Wine Loft in Carlsbad, CA, for two years and also completed harvest internships in 2012 at Mollydooker Wines in Australia and at Cakebread Cellars in the Napa Valley. Olivia then joined Maurice Car’rie Winery in Temecula as assistant winemaker in early 2013, before moving to Robert Renzoni Vineyards, also in Temecula, as assistant winemaker a year later. She was named winemaker there in 2017.

Olivia makes the following comment about winemaking as a career: “Winemaking is such an art. Yes, there is a lot of heavy manual labor and endless hours during harvest, but taking the time to understand your region’s complexities is something that takes time and a love of the art. Any gender can accomplish that!”
