Victoria Wilson

Greenwood Ridge Vineyards (Winemaker)

Matrix Winery (Winemaker)

Victoria Wilson is no stranger to the wine industry: she grew up in a winemaking family, with her mother making wine and her father being involved in viticulture. As a child, she was exposed to the variables of terroir and the subtleties that earth and soils impart to the vines and the fruit they bear.

This background fostered a respect for responsible stewardship of the vineyards and led her to major in Environmental Science at the University of California, Los Angeles, entering the program in 2006. Victoria spent a portion of her junior year at the University of Melbourne, and then returned to UCLA to complete her B.S. degree in 2010. She embarked on her career in the wine industry immediately after graduation, taking a position as a laboratory technician with deLorimier Winery in Geyserville. This was followed a year and a half later by five months as a wine associate at Vin Couture Lounge in Healdsburg.

In order to understand the breadth of the wine business as much as possible, Victoria was the manager of the tasting room at Soda Rock Winery in the Alexander Valley, one of the several wineries comprising Wilson Artisan Wineries, which are owned by the Wilson family. She remained in this position for some six years, when she returned to her true passion, winemaking, and was appointed Assistant Winemaker for Wilson Artisan Wineries and worked alongside her mother, the winemaker Diane Wilson, for several years. In 2018, Victoria was named the lead winemaker for Matrix Winery near Healdsburg and also holds this position at Greenwood Ridge Vineyards near Philo.

Victoria’s dream has been to produce high-end Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Petite Sirah from the vineyards cultivated by her father. She has worked side by side with her mother for many years, gaining invaluable hands-on experience, and now has the opportunity to make her own unforgettable Russian River Valley wines.
