San Pasqual Winery (Winemaker & Owner)

Linda McWilliams is the co-owner and winemaker of San Pasqual Winery in La Mesa. While wrapping up her career as a speech pathologist working at middle schools, she returned to school to focus on winemaking after she and her husband Mike bought the small urban winery in 2009. Her formal education in winemaking included courses at Mira Costa College and completing the Winemaker Certificate Program from the University of California, Davis.

Linda has won awards in various wine competitions, including gold medals at the San Diego County Fair, California State Fair, and the San Diego International Wine Competition. She is also currently serving as the President of the San Diego County Vintners Association.

The winery offers wines produced from fruit sourced from San Diego County and throughout the state. Varietals include Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, and red blends. San Pasqual Winery is also known for its Passionfruit wines, a local specialty.

When not working at the winery or one of the tasting room locations, Linda enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, on their boat, traveling — by train when possible — and cooking for family and friends, which includes pairing with the appropriate wine of course!
