Jenny Wagner was raised in Napa in a home located on the property of Caymus Vineyards, which is owned by her family. Thus it comes at no surprise that she spent much of her youth running around the vineyards and working in the winery during the summer. And not surprisingly, wine regularly graced the family’s table, and she was allowed a few sips while growing up. In her own words, this “sparked my interest in wine to a point. It is in my blood.” After graduating from Justin Siena High School in 2006, she earned a degree in 2010 from the University of San Diego, majoring in business administration and minoring in Spanish. That year’s harvest was Jenny’s first as a full-time employee of Caymus.

Working for several years alongside her father, Chuck Wagner, a viticulturist, provided hands-on experience in both farming and winemaking. This was valuable to her because the Wagner Family of Wine, in addition to producing its own grapes, sources fruit from a variety of other vineyards throughout the Napa Valley. As a consequence, Jenny was tasked not only with visiting these vineyards to ensure that the grapes were being properly farmed, but also with scouting for other possible sources of fruit.
