Montse Reece
Pedroncelli Winery (Winemaker)
Montse Reece has her roots in the Catalonian region of Spain. She earned a degree in enology from Universitat Rovira I Virgili in Tarragona in 1998, majoring in Agricultural Engineering and Oenology. By the time of her graduation, she had already gained several years of experience by working in wineries ranging from the Penedès to the Montblanc regions of Catalonia. She then joined the harvest crew at Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards in Sonoma for the 1998 harvest, after which Montse worked for Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery and Rodney Strong Vineyards.
In 2007, she moved on to Pedroncelli Winery. There, she worked under the mentorship of John Pedroncelli for seven vintages, during which she rose to the title of assistant winemaker. She was named winemaker in 2015, becoming only the third winemaker in the winery’s 87-year history. Pedroncelli produces a full range of wines, including Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, Rosè, Zinfindel, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, among other varietals and blends.
