Stacy Vogel

Plata Wine Partners (Winemaker)

Stacy Vogel grew up in North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1999. While studying abroad in Spain, she became interested in wine and food and how integrated they are in the daily life of Spanish society. After some post-graduate stints in health care and IT, she was hired by a wine and beer distributor to do sales administration. There she had access to wines from all over the world and was able to hone her tasting skills, truly falling in love with wine as a result. She also had a chance to chat with many visiting winemakers and realized their jobs sounded like a lot of fun! So she set her sights on California and a career in winemaking.

Pursuing her dream, she first earned a Master’s Degree in 2004 from the Viticulture & Enology program at the University of California, Davis, where she was the recipient of the Domaine Carneros Le Rêve Foundation Scholarship. She also holds an Executive MBA from Sonoma State University, awarded in 2015.

Stacy worked the 2004 harvest at Bouchard Pere et Fils in Burgundy and the 2005 harvest at Tahbilk Winery & Vineyard in Australia before returning to the Golden State as enologist for Cain Vineyard & Winery in St. Helena. In mid-2006 she moved to Ledson Winery & Vineyard in Sonoma as assistant winemaker. She joined Miner Family Winery in Napa in 2008, working her way up from associate winemaker to lead winemaker before leaving there in 2020.

After a period as a consultant, Stacy was named winemaker for Plata Wine Partners. In this position, she will be involved in all of the firm’s winemaking efforts, which involve fruit from vineyards ranging from the Central Coast to the North Coast of California.

Stacy lives in Napa with her winemaker husband and their two adorable (of course!) children.
