Wood Family Vineyards & Winery (Winemaker & Owner)

Rhonda Wood, formerly a commercial pilot with US Airways, started making wine in 1996, after her family purchased the Merlot vineyard where they built their home. The passion that she and her husband Michael had for wine and their belief that winemaking begins in the vineyard had led them to the Livermore Valley.

Wood Family Vineyards & Winery was established in 2000 and is a family-run winery specializing in limited production, handcrafted wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Zinfandel among other varietals. Rhonda, Michael, and their sons, Harrison and Parker, all have a hand in the winemaking process, as do many friends and other family. Michael assumes all duties during harvest, and Rhonda is the winemaker.

Rhonda and Michael are tireless champions of the quality of Livermore Valley soils and their commitment to Valley-grown grapes.
