Diane Wilson

Wilson Artisan Wineries (Winemaker & Owner)

When Diane and Ken Wilson first visited Sonoma County, they fell in love with its patchwork of oaks, vineyards, and expansive vistas. Not surprisingly, this impression led to making the area their home.

Diane was honored as Woman Winemaker of the Year in 2008. By winning unprecedented back-to-back Sonoma County Harvest Fair Sweepstakes in 2006 and 2007, she shot to the forefront of the Sonoma County wine industry. These highly regarded awards, coupled with dozens of 90+ scores and close to 100 Gold Medals, demonstrate Diane’s strong track record as an outstanding winemaker. She describes her winemaking style as unorthodox and views her sense of smell and taste as her strongest tools. She knows just when a wine has had enough oak aging and it is time to bottle or blend.

Wilson Winery produces Zinfandel, Cabernet France, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc, among other varietals. In addition to crafting wines for Wilson Winery, Diane, along with other winemakers, oversees winemaking for deLorimier Vineyards and Winery, Mazzocco Sonoma, Matrix Winery, and several wineries owned along with Ken.

Diane, a native Californian, cherishes her high-energy lifestyle that includes raising children with Ken, making wine, and taking an active role in the community. Diane and Ken are devoted to things they value most, namely family and friends, and they are committed to the stewardship and sustainable farming of the Dry Creek, Alexander, and Russian River Valleys. She and Ken have three children, Sydney, Sawyer, and Victoria (Tori); Victoria is following in her mother’s footsteps as a winemaker.
