Barbara Spelletich

Spelletich Cellars Family Winery (Winemaker & Owner)

Barbara (Barb) Spelletich was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She started her career in the wine industry as the manager of The Cork & Bottle. She worked for Ste. Michelle Winery and G. Raden & Sons, and then she established her own distributorship, Zephyr Imports. The latter move initiated a period of international travel and building relationships with the finest wineries in the world. She spent every spring traveling to Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy in order to visit each producer and choose the wines to be exported to the U.S.

Her next step was with Whitwhams Fine and Rare Wines, based in Manchester, England, and Bordeaux. Life as a negociant enhanced her contact with winemakers from the best regions of France. She further enhanced her winemaking skills with courses at the University of California, Davis. Barb then moved to the Napa Valley in 1992 and began working for St. Clement Vineyards in St. Helena.

In 1994, Barbara and her husband Timothy started Spelletich Family Winery in Napa Valley with Barb as the winemaker. The first wines she produced were Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Bodog Red, a blend.

Barbara and Timothy Spelletich and their daughter Kristen are delighted to share their passion through Spelletich Cellars family winery. There, they are the only investors, as well as winemakers, the sales and marketing team, secretaries, and bookkeepers. <
