Françoise Peschon was raised in California’s wine country and earned a degree in Fermentation Science from the University of California, Davis, in 1985. She furthered her education through post-graduate work at the University of Bordeaux and an apprenticeship at Château Haut-Brion before returning to the Napa Valley.

Following stints at Stag Leap Wine Cellars and at Rombauer, where she worked with Tony Soter and Mia Kline, Françoise joined Araujo Estate Wines in 1993 and was named its winemaker 1999, a position she held for some 14 years before becoming the consulting winemaker there. She continues to provide expertise to the winery as a consultant and is now the winemaker at Vine Hill Ranch and Heimark Vineyard.

In 2000, she teamed up with Lisa Drinkward to form Drinkward Peschon. They had become friends through their children’s activities and found that they both shared a love of wine, work, and play. Their passion for wine resulted in a first release of “Entre Deux Mères,” literally translated from the French as “Between Two Mothers.” Some two decades later, this Cabernet Sauvignon continues to be the sole varietal that they produce.

Françoise was named “Winemaker of the Year” for 2019 by the San Francisco Chronicle and by Vinous in 2021.
