Exegesis
refers to the critical study of a text, in our case the Bible. "Critical
study" can be done in a multitude of ways, depending on the types
of questions one wants to ask. These various ways of approaching
a text are referred to as exegetical or critical methods. A
list of some of these methods follows, with links to pages outside
the course web site. The links provide full descriptions
of the methods, guidelines for using them, and bibliographies.
You might
find it useful to work with each other and share resources, particularly
if your topic(s) overlap with those of other students or in case you
come across something another student might find useful. A
list of Exegetical Research Projects
will be available, as soon as you have all determined your topics,
so that you can see the methods and texts with which your classmates
are working. Additional resources are available from the
Research tab to the left, including a description of the exegetical
research paper, research tips, writing guidelines, a style-sheet,
and tools specifically for Scripture study. |
