Woodland Caribou Current Status

Unfortunately, the woodland caribou is an endangered species. There are many factors that are making the woodland caribou population get smaller.

One is that humans are bulding over their migration routes. The caribou migrate to protect their young from being killed. When they can't migrate, the young are born in areas that are very dangerous and they are not as likely to survive.

Current changes in climate have also effected the timing of their migration.

Lastly, hunting and predation of these animals has led to a decrease in the population.
