Tran came to the United States in 1975 when he was ten years old. He left Saigon a week before it fell to the Communists. The United States army evacuated his family and they lived in Michigan for a period of time before moving to Southern California. Tran graduated from the University of California, Irvine and received his master’s degree at Hamline University School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He is now the California Assemblyman for the 68th district. Tran is just one of the many examples of Vietnamese migrants to California who have flourished in the United States.
