Green Sea Turtle Examples

  • The green sea turtle’s migration path is not a very direct path. They wander in the general direction of their destination and their navigational cues (such as magnetic cues in the ocean) help them orient themselves and direct their journey.

3.1.1 Combine and perform basic locomotor skills, moving on a specific pathway (e.g., skip in circles, slide in zigzags, run in a variety of linear paths). Combine and perform locomotor and axial movements.

  • The green sea turtles returns to the beach where they were born to lay their eggs. By returning to this site they attach importance to it.

Spacial awareness/understanding spaces; 3.1.4 Expand the ability to incorporate spatial and time concepts in movement problems (e.g., select and combine three locomotor movements traveling in three different path-ways and using three different tempos).

  • One of the turtles’ cues is the patterns of the waves. They can sense the shapes of the waves and this helps them understand where they are and where they should go.

4.2.5 Convey a range of feelings through shape/postures and movements when performing for peers.
