The sandhill crane is one of the most common types of cranes in the world. Although this is true, the populations of non-migratory sandhill cranes in Mississippi and Cuba are endangered because a lot of their breeding areas have been destoryed. People hunting these birds has also led to a decrease in population of the non-migratory cranes.
