Coho Salmon

Current Status

Humans, even those who don't eat fish, have affected the coho salmon population.

To provide humans with the sufficient amount of fruits and vegetables farmers must use pesticides. Pesticides prevent pests from infesting crops which increases the amount of products available to the public. Although the use of pesticides is good for humans, it has an opposite affect for coho salmon. Pesticides damage the salmons' sense of smell which is needed to guide the salmon during migration.
