Audrie Walsh
Castello di Amorosa (Winemaker)
V. Sattui Winery (Winemaker)
Audrie Walsh was born and raised in an austere environment, namely the Mojave Desert. The competitive spirit and fascination with the natural world she experienced during her childhood were foundations for her future in the wine world.
She earned a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, in 2011. Although Audrie had intended to become a lawyer, she opted instead to pursue a career as a winemaker. Following a harvest internship as a lab technician at Estancia Estates in the Central Valley in 2011, she moved to South Australia and enrolled in the University of Adelaide, where she received a Master of Oenology degree in 2013.
Audrie returned to the States and took a seasonal position to study the Mohave ground squirrel, a threatened species native only to the Mojave Desert. After subsequent wine-related experiences in Australia during 2012 and 2013, she held harvest internships with Bravium in the Anderson Valley and Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley in 2014 and 2015, respectively. She then continued her odyssey to becoming a winemaker by first joining Louis M. Martini Winery in Fall, 2016, as its enologist and then moving to Treasury Wine Estates as an assistant winemaker in mid-2017. There, she crafted wines for a number of labels, including Beringer, Chateau St. Jean and Beaulieu Vineyards.
In mid-2021, Audrie took a position as assistant winemaker at Bundschu Company in Sonoma, and accepted a comparable position with V. Sattui and Castello di Amorosa in Fall, 2023. She was promoted to winemaker at these wineries in early 2026 and is responsible for crafting a variety of red and white varietals as well as blends and sparkling wines.
She subscribes to a "minimal intervention" style that preserves the purity and balance of the fruit. In her own words, she says, "Winemaking is an art, and to me, art is how we communicate the human experience when words alone are not enough. I want to share a sense of wonder in every glass—that 'aha' moment that evokes a memory or a feeling of home.”
Audrie and her family live in Napa, where much of her free time revolves around family adventures, park outings, and visits to Ireland. her husband’s homeland—though as she jokes, “Too bad you can’t grow grapes there!” In addition, she somehow manages to find the time to write songs and do pottery as well.
