Danielle Langlois
Lasseter Family Winery (Winemaker)
Danielle Langlois majored in chemistry at the University of Colorado at Denver but came to realize that laboratory research would not satisfy her professional passion. It was her father’s influence that shifted her interest to wine. He loved wine and was continually encouraging Danielle to move to California and explore winemaking.
Late in the summer of 2013, she took his advice and moved to Sonoma, where she held a harvest cellar internship at Kamen Wines. Danielle met Phil Coturri, with whom she worked at both Kamen and Mark Herold Wines, honing her skills at winemaking. He ultimately recommended her to Lasseter Family Winery as its winemaker. She considers Lasseter to be her “dream job,” with its focus on organic farming, experimentation, and working collaboratively with the owners and her team to accomplish the goal of making wines that best showcase the beautiful vineyards of the Lasseter estate. At Lasseter, Danielle is crafting Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Syrah, among other varietals, and makes various red and white blends as well.
Danielle has also founded her own label, Jambe de Bois, which resulted from her desire to study winemaking and develop a unique style. She understands that each vintage is different, not only because of the effect of weather but also because of the variation in techniques used to make the wine. As she says, “Jambe de Bois is my creative outlet. These small batches of wine are meant to be a discovery of different winemaking processes as I learn more every year. One thing I know about wine, is I will never be done learning.” She is focusing on small batches of Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosé, and a Rhone-style blend at her winery.
