Eglantine Chauffour

ENA Wine Makers (Winemaker & Owner)

Growing up in the south of France, Eglantine Chauffour always had a fascination with senses, especially those of smell and taste and with their power to contribute to emotions and build memories. Passionate about wines, she entered l’Institut Agro Montpellier in 2006, majoring in viticulture and enology, and earned her degree in 2010.

Eglantine gained “real-life” experience by way of a number of harvest internships. These included stints in France at Chateau Mont Redon (Chateauneuf-du-pape), Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin (Champagne) and some time at the Centre Oenologique de Pauillac, (Bordeaux). In the Southern Hemisphere, she held positions at Hamilton Russell Estate in South Africa, Cape Mentelle in Australia, and Yealands Estate in New Zealand.

In mid-2012, she went back to her roots and took on a position as research project manager for IFV - Centre du Rosé in Vidauban, France, focusing on production of Rosé wines. Eglantine then opted to move to California as technical winemaker at Enartis Vinquiry in Windsor in 2014, and joined Bucher Vaslin North America, in Santa Rosa, as the Enology Director in 2018.

Eglantine and her husband, also a winemaker, founded ENA Wines in Healdsburg in 2019, where they focus on producing Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc from cool climate terroirs. Her dream is “making wines as a true reflection of the grapes, the vineyard, and the vintage with a touch of personality. Wines that build unforgettable memories and emotions. Wines that make you travel instantaneously in time to visit a place, a terroir, a person. Wines made with European personalities using fruit from American terroirs.”

When not making, tasting, or talking about wines, Eglantine enjoys hiking the California coast with her friends, cooking French meals, and travelling to discover new places and cultures.
