Rebecka Deike
Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery (Senior Winemaker)
Rebecka Deike had a goal of becoming an optometrist when she enrolled at Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt) in Arcata, California. She graduated with a B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 1997 and soon thereafter changed her focus to winemaking.
Rebecka’s first position in the wine industry was in 2000 when she joined Jordan Vineyards and Winery in Healdsburg as a harvest intern. Her talents quickly led to her being hired on as a full-time assistant enologist. Four years later, she joined the winemaking team at Ferrari-Carano as its enologist, and after four years in this position, Rebecka was promoted to assistant winemaker. In mid-2012, she was named associate winemaker at the winery, a role she filled until being named senior winemaker there in 2021.
In her current position, Rebecka oversees the winery’s red wine program, including the PreVail wines and the mountain winery production facility in Alexander Valley. She says, “As winemaker for our red wines, I love the seasonal experiences and connection between seeing the vines develop in the vineyards, the grapes ripening and witnessing the transformation of grapes into wine. Our wines are reflective of the terroir they come from.”
