Molly Lonborg

Booker Vineyard (Senior Winemaker)

Molly Lonborg is a 2009 graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, having earned a B.S. degree in Earth Sciences with a concentration in Wine and Viticulture. She has traveled extensively and studied geology at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. But it was winemaking that ultimately drew her professional attention.

She worked her first harvest at Baileyana, which is in the Edna Valley near San Luis Obispo, and furthered her cellar experience with a stint with Justin Winery in Paso Robles. From there, Molly moved on to Halter Ranch in mid-2011, starting as lab manager and cellar assistant. She quickly moved up the ranks, from enologist, to assistant winemaker, and then in early 2018, to associate winemaker.

In February 2020, Molly was named winemaker of the month by Wine Business Monthly, and in March of that year, she became the winemaker at Alta Colina in Paso Robles. She succeeded Bob Tillman, the founder of the winery, in this role. The winery is noted for its Rhône varietals, including Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Syrah, and Petite Sirah. Molly left Alta Colina in early 2025, having joined Booker Vineyard as its senior winemaker.

She and Jordan Lonborg, her husband and a viticulturist with Coastal Vineyard Care Associates, found that the property they had purchased west of Paso Robles was home to some Pinot Noir vines, an unexpected discovery given the warmth of the region. Molly decided to use the fruit to produce a Rosé and a carbonic Pinot Noir, which she markets through Little Soul Wines, an entity she founded in 2020.

Molly and Jordan have two children, and when not crafting wine, she enjoys gardening, hiking, traveling, and live music.
