Andrea Furber Card is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, earning a B.S. degree in 2001. Her major was in Agricultural Business with a concentration in Farm and Ranch Management. While there, one of her notable activities was membership in the Cal Poly Logging Team, a group that engages in activities associated with traditional logging sports such as log chopping and birling, an unusual interest for someone who becomes a winemaker! She added to her formal education by earning a winemaking certificate from UC Davis and completing the California Agricultural Leadership Program.

After graduation from Cal Poly, she joined Benzinger Family Winery as a laboratory technician, moved on to become an enologist in 2003, and in 2005 added the role of lab manager to her responsibilities. She became the production manager in 2008 and was named assistant winemaker in 2014. After just eight months, she became winemaker, a position she held for two years. During her two decades at Benzinger, Andrea managed several different activities, ranging from the lab to the cellar to crush pads and to bottling lines. She transitioned to Ravenswood Winery in mid-2017 as its winemaker and remained there for two years before moving to The Prisoner Wine Company. After a year there, she joined Francis Coppola Winery as Director of Winemaking before moving to Delicato Family Wines as senior winemaker in mid-2021.

Andrea has deep roots in Sonoma County, having had great-grandparents who were grape growers in the northern reaches of the county before the imposition of Prohibition. They instilled a connection to nature and the land that remains with the family four generations later. She lives in Santa Rosa with her husband, Casey, and daughter, Avonell.

When not involved in work/family matters, Andrea remains true to her love of the sport of logging. She is a professional “Lumberjill” who continues to compete throughout the country and abroad with the U.S. Women’s Team!
