Lee Miyamura

Trinchero Family Estates (Senior Winemaker)

Lee Miyamura graduated from Sonoma State University in 1984 with a B.A. in molecular biology and a minor in chemistry. While attending college, she lived in Napa, California, which led to a temporary lab position at Meridian’s sister winery, Beringer Vineyards.

Lee was bitten immediately by the winemaking bug, and she never looked back. Several promotions and 20 years later, she was named as Meridian’s white wine maker in 2005 and its head winemaker in 2007.

Lee also became responsible for the firm’s Beringer Founders’ Estate brand in 2011. At both wineries, she was involved in every step of the winemaking process from harvest to blending and bottling. She enjoyed the fresh opportunity that each harvest brough, as well as the camaraderie that grew over the years among members of the Treasury Wine Estates team.

In early 2021, Lee joined Trinchero Family Estates as senior winemaker. There, she is the winemaker for the Iron + Sand brand and is focused on producing its noted Cabernet Sauvignon. In her own words, “Winemaking is about coaxing the grape into transforming itself into an expression of its terroir—the soil, the climate and a sense of place.”

Lee lives in Paso Robles, California, where she enjoys tasty meals concocted by her boyfriend and pairing them with new wine discoveries and spending time with her awesome cat, Diego.
