Julie Lumgair
Art Nouveau (Winemaker & Proprietor)
Julie Lumgair was the winemaker and a partner at Windsor Oaks Vineyards and Winery through the 2011 vintage, and she made their highly awarded, handcrafted artisan line and also offered custom-crush winemaking there. In 2014, she became the winemaker for Ideology Cellars in the Napa Valley, remaining there until August 2016 and then moving on to other consulting positions in Napa and Sonoma, including J. Moss Wines, Lake Sonoma, and Valley of the Moon, among others. She currently operates her own consulting business in addition to her new brand, Art Nouveau Wines, where she crafts Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, and a Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon Blend; all are reserve wines.
Julie's winemaking skills have garnered her being honored in the top ten lists for both white and red wines by Wine & Spirits Magazine. Her wines have achieved numerous 90+ scores and consistently been awarded “Year’s Best” and over 50 Sweepstakes, Best of Show, Best of Class, Double Gold, and Gold medals for a variety of her wine styles, ranging from Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignons, Zinfandels, Malbecs, and proprietary red blends to Sauvignon Blancs and Rosés. She was named to the Hall of Fame by Women for WineSense in 2020.
Julie also consults with a number of private clients. To enhance the quality of her consulting, she continuously compares winemaking notes and tastings with other winemakers. She is a Certified Specialist of Wine and an active member of the Society of Wine Educators, where she enjoys a deep exposure to wines and wine growing traditions from all regions of the world. She also serves in research and marketing roles for the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission (Grape Growers) and is active in the Russian River Valley Winegrowers AVA group. In addition, she served as the long-time chair of the Winemaking Roundtable of the Napa/Sonoma chapter of Women for WineSense, and now serves as President of Women for Winesense Napa/Sonoma.
Julie is a guest lecturer for industry panels and academic groups, supports various charities and cultural organizations, and remains active in her family’s fifth-generation multi-faceted farming operation.
Julie also loves exploring the great outdoors, cooking, and flying. Visiting great wine and fishing regions around the world with her husband, Douglas Lumgair, a vineyard manager, is a related passion.
