Katherine Dunham was a very accomplished woman in many different aspects of her life. Her talents helped make her film career so successful. The Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame recognized Katherine Dunham and her amazing work with films in 1974. Eventually, after choreographing and appearing in films, the money she made finally financially supported her own dreams in the theater.
