EXECUTIVE BOARD 2020-2021

President: Orlando Caballero

My name is Orlando Caballero and I am a Junior majoring in Public Health and minoring in Biology. A fun fact about me is that I fractured my tibia in high school, and now have a bit of bone sticking out of my knee. The recovery experience helped spark my interest in healthcare! I founded the Pre-PA Club after realizing that many of my peers were also interested in the career path. I was shocked to learn that many of them felt like they didn’t had the necessary resources or knowledge to reach the next step. Growing up, I’ve also felt that it’s necessary to share with others, and in this spirit I sought to utilize my leadership, communication, and creativity skills in developing a club that could provide knowledge on the PA profession while creating a community on campus. I want to become a PA because it allows me to contribute to the medical field sooner rather than later, and I am a huge fan of the lateral mobility and work life balance that comes with the profession. Growing up as the son of two immigrants and with low socioeconomic status, I want to specifically work with underserved communities!

Vice-President: Amaya Ada-Vibar

My name is Amaya Ada-Vibar and I am a senior majoring in Biology and minoring in Public Health and Religious Studies. A fun fact about me is that I used to play volleyball for 6+ years of my life and then participated randomly in collegiate rowing here at SCU for a year without any prior experience. I chose to apply for Vice President because I genuinely want to help my peers with the pre-PA process. I was left on my own to research about schools and programs I wanted to apply to. I also had to network on my own. I’ve learned so much in my own journey, and I would love to share that with my peers! I’m also very organized so being in charge of meeting slides was a fitting task for myself. I want to be a PA because I want to return home to Guam and help my community. Having the lateral mobility PAs have will allow me to continue working on the island wherever I’m needed for a long time, while giving me some time to raise a family of my own one day.

Secretary: Nisha Shankar

My name is Nisha Shankar and I am a Sophomore majoring in Neuroscience. A fun fact about me is that I roller skate competitively and have been doing so since I was six years old. I choose to apply for Secretary because I enjoy taking organized notes during each meeting, which I have some experience in as a reporter for the school newspaper. I am very interested in being a Physician Assistant, so when I heard about the club, I wanted to get involved as much as I could. I like being Secretary because it not only helps other people receive the information they need to be the best Pre-PA student they can be, but also allows me to learn more about the track as well. I am interested in being a PA because the ability to switch specialties is appealing to me. There are many different fields to choose from and while I am most interested in psychiatry, I feel comforted knowing that I could change my mind at any time.

Treasurer: Miya Duffy

My name is Miya Duffy, and I’m a junior from Boston, Massachusetts. I’m double majoring in chemistry and neuroscience, and a fun fact about me is that I love to bake! I chose to apply for treasurer because I wanted to get involved and learn more about the financial side of clubs at SCU. As for why I’m interested in being a PA, I love the fact that you can switch specialities! Having the opportunity to work with different doctors and patients allows for so many more opportunities to learn and it will always be exciting. Less time in school is also a huge plus!

Media Associate: Kristin Lee

Hi! I’m Kristin Lee, a sophomore majoring in biology and minoring in public health and dance. A fun fact about me is that I’m a certified scuba diver! I’m interested in becoming a PA because I want to make a difference in someone’s life, while being able to experience the best of multiple worlds in medicine. More time with patients, the flexibility to change specialties, and having the ability to make diagnoses.

Media Associate: Eliza Roesler

Website Designer: Martin Wu

My name is Martin Wu and am a Junior majoring in computer science and minoring in philosophy. A fun fact about me is that I am currently learning how to be a personal trainer. I used to attend Santa Clara University for the first two years of my undergrad. But I am currently a third year student at Seattle University and have decided to help out on making the website for this club as a side project. I don't know much about being a PA but if you are trying to be one, this club is perfect for you!
