Monument Mountain Vineyards (Winemaker and Owner)

Carol Fritz Hoopes, emerging winemaker and owner of Monument Mountain Vineyards (MMV), is new to the business of wine. After her three sons graduated from high school, Carol and her family decided to invest in her life-long passion for wine and winemaking. Having graduated from the University of California, Davis, in Environmental Planning in 1981, Carol returned to its extension program, completing the Internet Certificate Program in Winemaking for Online Learners in 2009.

MMV was established in 2008 with the planting of Pinot Noir vines in her great-grandparents hay field, which is located 1000 feet above the Eel River Valley in Northern California. As a family project, the creation of the vineyard was and is a labor of love with her, husband Jeff, and grown sons, Jonathan, Preston, and Logan. In addition, the family's dogs, nicknamed the Pinot Pointers, oversee the vineyard management of gopher and bird abatement. The varietals currently being produced are Sauvignon Blanc and Estate Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir Rose'.

The winery does not have a webpage but has a presence on Facebook.
