Wendy Trotta

Eclectic Wines (Winemaker & Co-Owner)

Wendy Trotta graduated from high school in Texas and then received a B.A. in History and French from the University of Texas at Austin. She rearned a second bachelor’s degree seven years later in Viticulture and Enology at California State University, Fresno.

Wendy and her husband Michael met in Cal State’s Enology and Viticulture program. Since that time, Wendy has worked in production at such Napa Valley icons as Dominus, Hyde De Villaine, Cain Vineyard and Winery, and Stagecoach Vineyards. Her winemaking experience is complemented by 15 years in fine dining service.

Wendy and Mike founded Reverence Wines in 2004 with the goal of making low-production, high-quality wines that exhibited the true character of the vineyards from which they came. Although Reverence shut down during the recent recession, a new “moonlighting” project has arisen in its stead in the form of Eclectic Wines. The couple focuses on crafting refined, idiosyncratic wines from less-known varietals such as Vermentino and Charbono. Their craft is furthered by low-intervention winemaking techniques that reflect their philosophy that “Less is More” in producing wines.
