Surveillance

Throughout time, governments have implemented policies that allow for surveillance of our everyday activities. A recent example in our world today is the SOPA bill, while aimed to stop online piracy, also restricts our freedoms online and has the potential to create an internet ripe for surveillance. In “Little Brother”, a similar situation existed. The city of San Francisco had become a police state, and every citizen labeled potential terror suspect. Doctorow’s answer through the novel was to essentially fight for justice in a peaceful, yet truth-revealing way. On a personal level, I agree with this, because regarding the SOPA bill and “Little Brother”, this method has been apparently successful.
