a culture of family

I have had many influences in my life that has helped me become the person I am today. These aspects of my life have changed and shaped the way I perceive and where my priorities lie. The first and perhaps most important aspect of my life is my family unit. I grew up with my parents and older sister in the midst of the overflowing beauty of nature. I have learned to put a heavy stress on quality time with the people I love. As the youngest, I have had an excellent role model in my sister, who is now an intelligent and successful woman.

Most importantly, each of my parents have been influential in their own ways. My mother and I are very close, and I feel comfortable sharing practically everything with her. From her, I have gained qualities like her fiery feminist spirit, determination and work ethic. My dad has also been very influential in my life. He is the more silent type of the two, and we seem to relate on a deep level which values small, intimate things like the quiet spaces between conversations. His intelligence is something I have always admired, but not necessarily inherited. But we do share a deep passion for learning and discussion, which we love to bond over.
