1. Not all children that work on cocoa bean plantations are slaves 2. Children are paid a substantially lower amount of money than adults even if they do the same amount of work (also known as "wage discrimination"): 3. 88% of all child workers on the Ivory Coast have never gone to school while the remaining 12% only received a little bit of elementary school education 4. Nearly 100% of all fathers who work on cocoa bean plantations have never received any form of formal education while 88% of mothers who work on cocoa bean plantations have never received any form of formal education 5. The majority of children working on cocoa bean plantations originally lived in other parts of Africa and migrated, now living with adults to whom they have no family ties |
