The ruins of Sacsayhuaman are also considered to be another one of the Inca's many fortresses. Placed high above Cusco and with enormous walls, the distinguishing qualities are its large plaza and giant walls. The stones used in the plaza are massive and it is still a mystery as tohow the Incas moved the stones and carved them so perfectly so they would stay as flawless as they are today. All of the stones used in these ruins have pristinely rounded corners and interlock perfectly, a frequent topic of debate between scientists as to how exactly the Incas managed to do this. The walls also lean inward, a quality that is unique only to Sacsayhuaman. There is often debate as to exactly how old these ruins really are. An interesting fact about this ruin in particular is that its shape resembles the head of a puma. | |||
