is open to everyone and anyone so bring your friends or come alone and
meet other awesome volunteers. There is no TB test or background

great if volunteers can come often and build relationships with the

Social aspect:This program's flexibility allows for an inclusivity of both individual volunteers and groups.
Ideal Volunteer:Anyone!!
Spanish speakers are helpful yet language will not be an obstacle.
Tutoring will be set up by the agency, and times will depend on the
availability of both student and tutor. The mentoring program is called
"Kid's Club." This program looks similar to structured play time and we
act as mentors, but mostly friends to help break the cycle of violence.
For the safety of the children and their mothers, a quick background
form is required to be filled out and processed before volunteering at
Homesafe.

Julian Street Inn |
Volunteering
at Julian Street Inn is super easy because there aren't any forms or TB
tests to be done! On Saturday mornings we go to the only homeless
shelter for the seriously mentally ill in Northern California to cook
the only hot breakfast, sometimes the only breakfast at all, of the
week for the residents. From fruit salads to hashbrowns, we make it
all! Aside from providing a filling meal for the residents at Julian
Street Inn, volunteers get to enjoy the company and conversations with
the residents. |

Social aspect:
You get to meet all the other wonderful volunteers as you cut up fruits
and vegetables or flip pancakes and french toast side by side. If you
are volunteering with your RLC you can finally meet that person you
always awkwardly run into in the bathroom or that cute boy living down
the hall. But, the best part is being able to sit down to eat with the
residents at Julian Street Inn and being able to talk to them about
anything and everything.
Ideal Volunteer:
Morning people, night-owls who don't go to bed until past 5:00am,
groups of friends, clubs, RLC's, and anyone who loves to cook and get
to know new people!

Social aspect:It's
a fun program to do with friends, but doing it individually allows you
to build better relationships with the teens and get more involved.
Ideal Volunteer: An
ideal volunteer would be outgoing and enthusiastic and good with
kids/teens. It would also be better if they were a regular volunteer
but it's not necessary.
