Volunteer information:
Meeting Time:Monday-Friday from 8:30 am- 2:30 pm
Social aspect: It can be done as a group and individually.  Most people enjoy going with a group of friends because it is a very social and enjoyable environment, but people who do go individually have the same experience.  Whether volunteers go in a group or individually, volunteers build a strong bond with the children.
Ideal Volunteer: Anyone can volunteer!  Ideal volunteers love working with children and are available to go during the school day. In order to start volunteering, volunteers need to get fingerprinted and TB tested, which can easily be done at Cowell Health Center.  The children enjoy seeing us and it's a wonderful experience!

Project Open Hand

Join us for Project Open Hands every Friday evening in San Francisco to support people with terminal illness by delivering dinners and to learn about life in the tenderloin. Also, come learn more about our community by planning and participating in AIDS walks and educational on-campus events.

Volunteer information:
Meeting Time: TBA
Social aspect:This program is ideal for both individuals and groups. Individuals can help plan the clinic and do more behind the scene work in the months leading up to the event, as well as participating during the event. Larger groups can volunteer at the one day sports clinic event.
Ideal Volunteer: The ideal volunteer would be someone who is ready and eager to engage with participants of the Special Olympics.

Veteran Connection Come visit and spend time with the veterans at the geropsychiatric unit at the Veteran Hospital in Menlo Park. These men live permanently at the hospital and lack the opportunity to spend much time in the outside world, but you can be a wonderful resource and a friend. Enjoy a conversation or participate in group games, puzzles, crafts and other activities.

Volunteer information:
Meeting Time:Once a week, whenever is a good time for the individual
Social aspect:This program is ideally suited for small groups of 3 or 4 so that they can drive together. However, many people do this program on their own.
Ideal Volunteer: Because the purpose of this program is to form connections with people at the hospital, the ideal volunteer for Veteran Connections would come on a regular basis rather than once a quarter.
