Childhood Online?

Certainly, educating youth in relevant and necessary new media skills is an important goal of our modern education system.

But what effect does extensive participation in new media have on the social lives of young people? Are the claims true, that spending frequent time on the Internet de-socializes our families, leaves us overweight, out of shape and unable to cope with real life?

Or do new media technologies fulfill the very human need for self-expression, connection and exchange in ways that classroom education often does not?

Explore this website along with me, a non-tech savvy twenty-something, as I try to check my anti technology, pro face-to-face sociality prejudices at the door and see if time online makes or breaks childhood in America.
