Benjamin
Michael
Singer -- June!
UPDATED 06/05/2004
Benjamin is now almost 11 weeks old, and is definitely showing
his own personality and desires. He likes to sleep well at night,
but doesn't take naps in the afternoon too well -- life is just too
exciting! He will lay on his back for half an hour, watching the
ceiling fan spin, in awe and wonderment. He took his two-month
peditrician vaccinations like a real trooper, although his parents were
happier once we introduced him to the joys of infant Tylenol! He
weighs more than 14 pounds now, and still eats like a horse.
Today he discovered the wonderful art of thumb-sucking, and that quiets
him right down -- he smears his hand over his face until the thumb pops
in, and then he's happy. Except when he pokes his finger in his
eye accidently...
These last few weeks were reasonably quiet, trying to establish a
pattern of eating and napping at the right times. The weather has
gotten warmer, so we're going for more neighborhood walks with Benjamin
in the stroller. Joan and Jean and Anne-Marie have been very
helpful doing a little babysitting now and then, so Melissa can get
some bits of grad school work done; it's definitely harder to make good
Ph.D. progress with a demanding two-month-old in the house. Diane
Whitmore stopped by the Friday before Memorial Day, and we got to meet
her boyfriend Max. Then we took a great weekend trip to Chicago
(Benjamin's first long car ride) to see the Grande-Nonna, then Aunt
Rachel and Uncle Todd and Cousin Jake. Jake was still somewhat
jealous, not wanting competition, but he settled down soon to accept
Benjamin's presence. We also had a great Memorial Day barbecue
with all of Todd's Chicago relatives.
You can see lots of pictures and videos of Jake at his website, http://www.jacobgordon.com.
He'll be coding his own websites soon, I'm sure!
