It's been many months since Joel's updated the webpage. It has a new address (as you can see) -- it's been moved from the University of Michigan servers over to Santa Clara University. Joel has also given it a thorough redesign, bringing it from 1998 web coding to, hopefully, something circa-2003.
Life updates: Melissa is quite happy to have finished her doctoral dissertation, and to be hired at Santa Clara University. I must say it is nice to feel that we are avoiding the nasty winter afflicting many other parts of the country. Joel is still working at LifeMasters, and is enjoying playing with his new Mac computer, organizing all his music files and books and digital photos. The big news is that we are expecting a daughter in about seven weeks! We should each be able to take time off from work for the initial random-sleep period. We are very busy trying to figure out how to reorganize our house and our lives to accommodate an infant as well as a rambunctious preschooler.
Benjamin really enjoys his preschool, doing art projects and going to tumbling class. He has grown by leaps and bounds over the past months, talking more, and being much more independent with basic tasks such as dressing and using the potty. He loves going to zoos, childrens museums, and the beach at Santa Cruz. He is not reading quite yet, but sounding out and spelling short words; still loves being read to every day, and picking up new books (OK, and a video or two) at the library. And of course he has great fun playing with friends -- Alex, Peter, Seth, Ellie, and more that there are pictures of.
It has been great to visit friends and family over the past months, and to have visits from the same -- all of you are always welcome here in Santa Clara, especially if you need to get away from a cold winter! There have been too many to list, but you will see many of our visitors and trips in the pictures following. Love to all!
