Gioia Wine (Winemaker and Owner)
Teri Love’s wine education is based on real-life experience, tasting wines from all over the world, and apprenticing under Jim Porter of William James Cellars. She decided to begin the next phase of her life in the Santa Barbara area because it afforded her the fondest memories of the places where she has been the happiest, all rolled into one perfect spot.
Teri is the winemaker and owner of Gioia Wine, which had its first commercial wine release in September 2007. Gioia is the Italian word for joy, and her wines bear this name in honor of her son Tyler, who died from a motorcycle accident while in his 20s. Varietals she currently produces include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Bacia Bianca and Tiggy, which are white and red blends, respectively. The grapes are all harvested in the Santa Barbara, California area. Teri personally blends all four of the wines.
