Welcome to my World, of Warcraft

Welcome to my world, of Warcraft that is. My friends know me as Kellie, a junior attending college. But my guild members know me as Skylaa, the Tauren hunter who likes to eat Oreos while raiding.

My Gameplay History

I’ve been playing World of Warcfart (WoW) for 3 years now. My cousin got me hooked my senior year of high school and soon I was activating my own account and roaming the world on my own. I started on a Player vesus Environment server (PvE) instead of a Player versus Player (PvP) or Role playing (RP), so I didn’t have to worry about someone coming up and killing me during gameplay. In the beginning, I sucked. I won't sugar coat it, I really really sucked. But hey, it was just a game and I was having fun talking to random people I would meet online, playing in groups and just plain messing around. The world was too big to stay focused on one thing for too long. I played as a hunter so my pet and I would run around and slay some random bad guys from time to time.

Eventually I played more regularly because I created a network of players I could rely on when I needed help. It was fun playing with random people I had never met and most of them were really nice (probably because they knew I was actually a girl). But all of those people left the game and fell off the face of WoW. I was pretty much ready to hang up the towel and give the game up because I hated playing alone and still really sucked at leveling.

I started college and still continued to play on a regular basis as a way to relieve stress and relax. It was also a great way to spend time with friends I met across campus as well (you wouldn't believe how many avid players there are in college). Sophomore year I decided made a huge leap with my character, all because my brother convinced me to join this guild who wanted to focus on raiding. After the first expansion, The Burning Crusade (released in February 2007), I finally decided to push my character to the highest level or cap level (which was 70 at the time). I began raiding with my guild and quickly geared my toon or character. Soon I was playing close to 40 hours a week (because we raided Tuesdays through Fridays) and still managed to keep up with school and my social life. It was a relatively stressful, inflexible schedule. The guild leader was really annoying too and was always yelling at everyone if we turned the wrong way or looked funny.

Too stressful for me, so I quit and found another guild. These people were WAY more laid back about the game (and actually understood this was just a game) as compared to my previous network of players. They were so friendly and helpful, and each member treated me as though I were family. One I looked to like an older brother and he affectionately nicknamed me Cookies because I always ate Oreos on raid night. However, not every good thing is meant to last forever. Slowly I began to stop playing and ended up quitting WoW all together. I was burnt out from playing roughly 40 hours a week for nearly 5 months straight and needed some time off.

The newest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King was released in November of 2008 and I was in no way interested in returning to the game. the cap level had been raised to 80 and I hated leveling. Hated with a passion. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I was convinced to return in January of 2009 and have been slowly leveling since then. Now there is more content than ever, more gear to attain and a new reputation to build across the realm of Azeroth and Northrend, the newest addition to the World of Warcraft.
