English 120: Studies in Comparative Cinema: Cross-cultural
Representations in U.S. Latino/a and Latin American Cinema

Description:
Study and analysis of cross-cultural contact in the contexts of conquest, clashes of cultures, border crossings and border killings in fiction and film. What happens when European, Latin American and American values meet? How do communities react to immigration and border crossings within "Las Americas"? How is cultural difference and the Latin American "Other" represented in performance, fictional and filmic discourse?
