The Greek Orthodox Faith is the dominant religion in Greece and of Greek people around the world. Between 95% and 98% of people living in Greece follow this religion. In Thrace, there is a recognized Muslim population of about 100,000. Judaism has also existed in Greece especially in the city of Thessaloniki. The Greek Orthodox Church is financially supported by the government and exercises significant political and economic influence. All Orthodox students in primary and secondary schools attend religious instruction.
Greek churches can be found everywhere in Greece. At times, it can be overwhelming how many churches there are in such close proximity.
