INT.NEWS STATION.EVENING
News Anchor is sitting behind a big news desk inside a news
station. The desk is large and fills the whole shot. In the
background is semi fake looking image of the Golden Gate
Bridge. It is lit so that it appears to be dusk. The New
Anchors name is Bill and he is middle aged with fantastic
hair, he is wearing a collared shirt and a red tie. In his
hand is a piece of paper and he reads off it into the camera
in a deep news caster quality voice. He is serious and
concerned about every word he says.

This next story comes to us from a
local high school in down town San
Francisco. A group of high school
seniors have found themselves no
longer going to collage after
pulling what they thought was just
a harmless prank on one of there
teachers. Ann is in the field with
more information. Ann.

FIELD ANCHOR
Thank you Bill. Four students at
Cesar Chavez High School in the
mission district have had there
college admissions revoked after
purposely failing their STAR test
late last month. The students true
goal in failing the test however
was a little unexpected. I asked
the student earlier today why they
chose to do this.
Interview with Van and Darrel outside of the high school.
Darrel is a tall and well built eighteen year old who looks
like he should already be in college. While his appearance
in a little intimidating he is gentle and lovable. Van is
quite petite sitting next to Darrel. She is gentle with long
dark hair and a smile that would melt any teenage boys
heart.
TWO-SHOT: of van and Darrel, shot begins focused on van
VAN
We were just trying to make a
point. You see our history teacher
is unreasonable. She teaches us
about civil liberties and then
denies us ours and treats us as
inferiors. A good teacher
encourages students to ask
questions and have debates in
class, she on the other hand gets
mad if we questioned anything she
said. It was like you have to see
everything her way or you would
fail. I got a five on my AP history
test and I almost failed her class
just because I do not always agree
with her.
PAN: to Darrel, continue two-shot
DARREL
Ya, and after we all failed the
last test that was it, we had had
it with her. That is when we knew
something had to be done. No one
was listening when we said she was
a bad teacher so our buddy Marcus,
he came up with a plan to get her
back.
PAN: back to van
VAN
All we wanted was to be heard. We
know how important the test is in
determining if teacher are
effective so we thought we would
show how she was not teaching well.
School is about learning and what
we were doing could hardly be
considered learning. School had
become a waste of time. It is not
learning when all you are doing is
memorizing what your teacher
thinks.

The students plan to effect there

hurting them instead. This is what
the school had to say about the
event.

CLOSE UP: on school administrator standing in front of an
important looking signboard. The administrator is a strict
looking man with short, practical hair. He wears a white
shirt and tie.
SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR
These students acted irrationally
and immature. There dislike for the
teacher in question went way to
far. The school district believes
this teacher to be one of our top
educators and the actions of these
juvenile delinquents will not
affect her in any way. If student
have a problem in school they
should talk to someone about it, a
parent, adviser, councilor...
anyone. These actions were
inappropriate, the school district
spends millions of dollars on these
test and we can’t have students just
messing them up for fun. There have
to be consequences for such
actions. Other students need to see
that this was not OK.

As soon as the students chosen
colleges heard about what happened
their admissions were revoked and
the students are left without
acceptance letters months before
they had planned to start college.
Unfortunately for these kids their
future without college is not
looking bright. Hopefully this will
detour any other students from
pulling this same prank. Back to
you Bill.

INT. VAN'S SOUP KITCHEN. EVENING
long shot: of a line of people waiting to get food at a long
table. The table has servers behind it much like a buffet.
The people in line are mostly shabby looking, torn and old
clothing. most peoples clothes do not fit well. People are
dirty and disheveled. People behind the table are well put
together and dressed to work, mostly jeans and tee's. The
table has food on it in big hotel serving pans. The food
looks edible but it mass produced.

brown hair in a braid off to one side. She is serving chicken
alongside another woman. Camera is following behind the
shoulder of another woman in line to get food. This woman is
older and has had better days. She is a little better off
then most of the people in line but her clothes are dated
and she looks tired.

drops when she recognizes her as there old teacher.
zoom out: after serving the woman van walks over to Marcus
who is putting more napkins on tables, she pokes him and
gestures towards the woman. Marcus has a similar reaction as
he whispers
MARCUS
Mrs. Anderson? From high school?
Van nods, the screed goes dark
