Beer as Slow Food
This is for Marc Bousquet's English 138 class, Spring 2009
There are few beverages in the world that spawn as much pride and contention among people as beer.  The history of brewing is a long one, stretching back at least 6000 years.  With such a long history it is sad to see people drinking Budweiser and touting it as the "Great American Lager."  It is time to return to the ideals laid out by the Germans in the Reinheitsgebot and bring purity and taste back to beer.  Luckily there is already a movement that will help this process along, known as Slow Food.  By educating people on what exactly Slow Food is and how it can be applied to beer, there can be a shift in how people perceive beer, followed by a shift in consumption patterns.
