Hawaii.  Swaying palm trees, beaches, warm weather, and beautiful people, what more could one ask for?  These are the usual connotations that come to mind for those who solely see Hawaii as a vacation destination.  Sure, it’s a beautiful place, home to a culture completely unique from the rest of the mainland US.  However, the residents of Hawaii know all too well that there has been an ongoing battle between the US government and the Native Hawaiian people.  But how could a place so seemingly perfect have such deep-seeded problems?  Well this is where my story begins, so come on in and see what has lead Native Hawaiians in such a direction as to oppose the US government. Hele mai.
