
College students face a huge problem in their lives: stress. Students say that it is the “biggest life issue” that they face. 85% of students reported that they are faced with stress every single day. Their unique situation within the college environment contributes to the amount of stress they experience, which is greater than the average person. It also leads to exacerbated results of the stress, most of which are negative.
College students are often on their own for the first time, needing to handle their finances with the additional burden of tuition, juggling relationships, managing their grades, and worrying about the future. All of these factors contribute to college students’ stress. To help alleviate it, there are certain techniques that students can employ for themselves. Though if the system were to change to release students from external and self-imposed expectations, their stress levels would improve.
